Template This document describes how the product actually handles data, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it reviewed before launch.
Cue is designed to keep your conversations on your device. This policy explains what data the app processes, where it goes, and the controls you have.
What Cue processes
Audio from the sources you choose (your microphone and, if you enable it, your computer’s sound or a shared browser tab), only while listening is switched on.
Documents you add, such as your resume, a job description and personal notes.
Account data: the email address you sign up with and, if you use Continue with Google, your Google account identifier. Cue never sees your Google password.
Billing data: your credit balance, credit purchases and when paid sessions start and end. Payments are handled by Stripe; Cue never sees your card details.
Where your data goes
While a session is live, short audio clips and the text needed to draft answers (including relevant parts of your resume and job description) pass through Cue’s server to Google’s Gemini API, which transcribes them and writes the answers. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply to that processing.
Cue’s server relays these requests and does not store them: no audio, transcript, document or answer is written to disk or kept after the request finishes. It records only that a request was made, for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
The app’s local server only accepts connections from your own computer.
Our billing server receives only what it needs to run your account and paid sessions: your email address, credit purchases and session start and end times. We use your email only to sign you in and to send receipts.
Sign-in codes are delivered by our email provider, Resend.
What is stored
Audio is processed in memory and never written to disk.
Transcripts are kept only when you turn on Save Transcript for a session, and are then stored encrypted on your device with that session.
Your resume, job description and notes stay in memory unless you turn on “Remember my profile”, in which case they are stored encrypted on your device.
Your sign-in token is stored encrypted on your device (Windows DPAPI or the macOS Keychain). You never need an API key.
Your controls
Emails, phone numbers and profile links are removed from your resume before it is sent to the AI (on by default).
“Delete all my data” removes your stored profile and documents immediately. Signing out removes your sign-in token from the device.
Consent of others
You are responsible for obtaining consent from everyone you record or transcribe, as required by law and by the policies of the conversation you are in.
